Getting DCA

Lots of people have contacted us with questions about how to get dichloroacetate, the promising new cancer treatment discovered by researchers at the University of Alberta. Quite a few have left comments on the original DCA post. As much as we would like to be able to help everyone looking for this drug, at this point there is very little genuine information available about buying DCA/dichloroacetate or about obtaining it some other way (e.g. by taking part in a clinical trial).

Despite the fact that DCA is still unproven in human cancer studies, it’s understandable that many people suffering from the disease would want to try it as soon as possible. With that in mind we will make the comments area of this post (below) available for those with real information about buying or obtaining DCA. If you know how to get it — either by purchasing it or by taking part in a clinical study — please post the information below.

NOTE: This area is only for real information about purchasing or otherwise obtaining the drug dichloroacetate, also known as dichloroethanoic acid or DCA. The comments below will be closely monitored. Do not attempt to post deceptive information regarding dichloroacetate or any other cancer treatment. Any comment suspected of being an attempt to collect visitors’ contact information (email address, phone number, etc.) or to “scam” people in any way will be quickly removed. Multiple attempts will lead to the poster’s IP address being banned.

This is a good idea. I am very, very interested in learning how to buy DCA. If anyone has any information please post it here as I will be checking back every day. Thank you!!

I have heard that there are companies in Canada and China that produce dichloroacetate. Does anyone know how a “regular” person can contact and possibly purchase it from them?

  3. 3 Christopher Amos Feb 15th, 2007 at 10:45 am

From the researches at Alberta, they say:

“The invention relates to the use of dichloroacetate and chemical equivalents thereof for the treatment of cancer by inducing apoptosis or reversing apoptosis-resistance in a cell Preferably, the dosage is 10-100 mg/kg”

However, other information out there says that 25 mg/kg causes liver and nerve problems. One study had to end its testing early because of the negative side affects of DCA.

So it doesn’t make sense that up to 100 mg/kg would be safe.

I think we really need to investigate the negative implications of this drug.

If anyone has any information on the negative implications, and whether they are true, please post them.

    Check out

    http://www.thedcasite.com

The author of this web page is investigating sources of DCA
and he might help others to get it.

BTW: It appears that most of us are already taking
~4 µg/kg dichloroacetate since it is a byproduct of water
    chlorination!

    See the paper

    http://www.ehponline.org/members/1998/Suppl-4/989-994stacpoole/stacpoole-full.html

This paper also looks at dichloroacetate therapeutic use
at doses ~ 50mg/kg. Also see

    http://www.huntingtonproject.org/Portals/0/dichloroacetate%202004%20FINAL.pdf

    According to note 13 in

    http://cardiosrv1.uah.ualberta.ca/presentation/DCA%20%20Circulation%20paper.PDF

it appears that sodium dichloroacetate is the form that has been used in
    human studies.

If you froogle “sodium dichloroacetate”, you find

Check into blogs or websites on Mitochondria centres in the USA (does Canada do this) to see how they do it,and what is the treatment. If its used on children for metabolic disorders, its a natural jump to use it on adults.

We should all ask our doctors to prescribe it to the one with cancer and collect the answers and see if anyone says yes. I cannot imagine a true ethical MD prescribing it, due to medical liability, even if one signs a waiver. However, until we try, noone knows.

It might also be useful to contact the clinics in Mexico that dispense laetrile and other “alternative” treatments - if they see that there is a market, they could probably offer DCA.

  7. 7 alex Feb 17th, 2007 at 5:41 pm

Also, I wonder how hard it is to synthesize DCA, either by reduction of trichloroacetic acid or chlorination of acetic acid. Any chemists care to comment?

  8. 8 alex Feb 19th, 2007 at 6:57 pm

Regulatory problems in the US could be avoided by persuading alternative medicine clinics in neighboring countries to offer the treatment. I would suggest that everyone who is interested contact this clinic, which is outside Tijuana. If they get enough requests, they will probably start offering DCA.

One way of getting it would be the following:
We know that DCA is already prescribed by doctors for two other known diseases(blood regulation disorder and acidolactose control). the dosage implied in those prescription is considered as safe. My friend has a prostate cancer and is willing to ask his doctor to prescribe him DCA invoking the need to control bloodflow to the heart. He wants to respect the dosage prescibed for that disease, so , it would not have undesirable side effects on him. The doctor is willing to consider this solution, considering hat research on the subject and approval by authorities might take a long time. Considering also that pharmaceutical companies don’t have a great interest in marketing a drug that would impair the sale of other expensive and more or less efficient drug they own the rights to. And as we all know the power of influence of these companies, they might also be able to delay for a long time state approval of such a drug.
Of course, there is a small risk for doctors in doing this and it has to be taken into consideration. Patients would have to be closely monitored.

  10. 10 alex Feb 24th, 2007 at 6:52 am

Nobody knows how to safely administer reagent grade DCA, or if there even is a safe way. The dcasite website listed above has some information about obtaining pharmaceutical grade DCA which would be much, much safer. A pharmacist or chemist would be more qualified than a doctor to tell you how to convert the highly caustic acid into a neutral substance that would not burn the mouth and intestines. Because it is clear that people are going to try this, I hope that someone will come forward with this information.

  11. 11 john c. Feb 28th, 2007 at 1:58 pm

There is already a way to safely take DCA and kill you cancer. Just mimic what Drs. Michelakis and Archer did in ALberta. Mix Sodium dcs into 16 ounces of water, using the following formula:

12.5 mg of DCA/kg body weight

Drink the water within 5-10 minutes, and, if your melanoma tumors react the same way the melanoma tunors in the rats reacted, your tumors will be shrunk to 1/3 their original size in one week and will disappear in several more weeks.

For more specific information and stories from other people who are pioneering this substance in order to cure themselves, see www.thedcasite.com/

    Good luck.

If you treat yourself with drugs without knowing the proper dosage and potential side effects, you might kill yourself or cause permanent damage. One paper is not a cancer cure, it is far from it. The FDA has strict policies regarding allowing drugs to be used in humans for a reason, but even with their tight regulations drugs with terrible side effects get through all the time. Read Christopher Amos’s post above, the dosage they used was 4 times the dosage that caused damage in humans. Mixing up cocktails of Sodium DCA in your kitchen might prove fatal.

  13. 13 Syona Mar 4th, 2007 at 4:03 pm

Sigma-Aldrich are no good to order from, you need to be part of an organisation that already has an account with them.

However… I just bought 10g from Cole-parmer and all they did is a valid credit card number.

    See above for links.

  14. 14 Jean Mar 12th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

I have contacted a number of Mexican Clinics in Tijuana.
None of them are using DCA, or even know about it.
One Dr. down there is willing to try it, if I provide the DCA.
My own Dr. in the US is OK with me trying it, as long as the Dr. involved is a cancer Dr. ( he isn’t, it’s out of his line of expertise ) .
I’d rather work with a Dr. in British Columbia, though I have a friend that’s checking out the possibilities for treatment in Europe.

This version is sold “for pets” - which is simply a legal way to get it on the market. I am using it for my cat.

Could someone please post some results on DCA?
    Are you feeling better?

Time is ticking for a relative, and - even though it’s early days for DCA, it would be great to get your feedback

I was looking for any positive results and EURIKA! Follow the link http://www.thedcasite.com/dcaforum/DCForumID2/28.html

Also to safely administer the drag, follow the link and download the dosage calculator. It uses 15mg/kg (or you can use lb) and calculate the amount necessary for three month treatment.

I wrote to the FDA with this comment:

“I bought DCA from buyDCA.com and had it tested by a chemist. He found that it was more impure than the industrial grade DCA I bought from a major US supplier.”

I had also shared this information with buydca.com as well.

My mom was diagnosed with carsinoma cancer about 8 months ago. She’s gone through her chemo and will soon do her radiation. I’ve found that her doctors tell us so many different things of what needs to be done, and at the end of the radiation, the doctor has informed her that they can’t run a scan on her to see if the cancer is still around. It has been very discouraging for us, until a friend sent me an email about Dichloroacetate. I’ve researched it and will pay ANY AMOUNT to get this product.

Please, if there is somebody who knows how I can get it, please let me know.

    My email is grmorris@sd73.bc.ca
    Thanks

I would personally like the pharmacists to stop “farming” cancer patients because it’s “incurable.” Please. They’re making too much money to release a cure. At any rate, I am highly interested in this, find it outrageous that I can’t get this shipped to the united states. I haven’t been able to find one horror story about this drug, and it apparently works like a charm. The FDA needs to stop trying to control the mortality rate of the United States population and allow people to go out and do what they used to: Discover things on their own. We don’t need you to protect us, because you’re not. Looks like I’m taking a road trip to Canada.

  31. 31 Jeremy Jun 28th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

I have a friend that is near death from cancer… we heard of DCA and got some from another friend in Canada… in a week we saw reductions, nearly 20-25% in the tumors and a
huge reduction in the sensitivity to touch of them.

Now we are desperate trying to find more… this is so frustrating having this drug that is clearly working in this case and not being able to find more here in the US.

We will drive to Nogales, Mexico tomorrow in hopes of finding more down there…

  32. 32 Jeremy Jun 28th, 2008 at 6:35 pm

PS We used the amount of 10ml per kilogram…

He weighs about 175lbs, so each daily does was just under one gram.

Amazing results… just amazing. And DCA is inexpensive…
we just need it now, not another 4-6 weeks from now.
