Study: Cutting carbs can improve cholesterol

Cutting your carbohydrate intake can help to improve your blood fat profile, according to a new study from Oakland, California. In the study, men with lower carb intakes (26% of total calories) were able to decrease their “bad” LDL cholesterol levels while increasing the ratio of “good” HDL cholesterol to total cholesterol levels.

The lead doctor in the study was careful to point out that people can follow a similar diet to that used in the study by “avoiding the kinds of food we don’t need in our diet anyway - sugary foods, white rice, pasta, white bread…”

More solid evidence that eating lots of carbohydrates — especially simple sugars and starches — isn’t a good idea!
